Activities
At Lola’s House, care home activities are about enjoyment, connection and routine.
We know that meaningful moments don’t always come from a busy timetable. They can come from a favourite song, a shared conversation, a familiar routine or a quiet moment with someone who knows you well.
Our team spends proper time with residents throughout the day. Staff sit and chat, join in conversations, eat alongside residents and help create a warm, relaxed atmosphere where people feel included.

Activities aren’t one-size-fits-all. We get to know each resident’s interests, personality, abilities and preferences, then encourage them to take part in a way that feels comfortable for them. For some people, that might mean joining a group activity. For others, it might mean enjoying music, a chat or a calm one-to-one moment.
Entertainment and Everyday Moments
Activities in a care home don’t always need to be big events. At Lola’s House, we offer a mix of planned entertainment, familiar routines and simple everyday moments that help residents feel part of the community. This includes:
Weekly Wine Round
Residents can enjoy a relaxed weekly wine round in the bar, adding a sociable moment to the week.
Live Music
A professional singer visits every fortnight, bringing familiar songs, conversation and shared enjoyment.
Trips and Outings
Where suitable, residents are supported to enjoy trips and outings beyond the home.
Salon and Chiropody Visits
Visiting services, including the salon and chiropodist, help residents feel comfortable and cared for.
Just as importantly, our team makes time for the quieter moments: chatting with residents, sitting together, sharing meals, encouraging laughter and offering reassurance when someone needs it. Friday fish and chips has become one of these small weekly traditions – adding something extra special to our catering.
These everyday details help create the community feel that makes Lola’s House special.
Activities for People Living with Dementia
Dementia care home activities should feel calm, familiar and adapted to the person.
At Lola’s House, we take each resident’s mood, comfort and needs into account. We gently encourage involvement, but we also respect when someone would rather watch, rest or enjoy a quieter moment.
Activities for people living with dementia may include familiar music, simple conversation, sensory moments, gentle routines or one-to-one time with a member of staff. The aim isn’t to keep people busy for the sake of it, but to help residents feel settled, included and supported.
Meaningful activity looks different for every person, and that’s something families often want reassurance on. At Lola’s House, we focus on what feels right for the individual, not a fixed programme everyone is expected to follow.
