Dementia Care
Lola’s House provides specialist dementia care in Brough, East Yorkshire, for people who need safe, consistent and compassionate support.
Dementia can affect memory, communication, confidence, mood and daily routines, often all at once. That’s why care here is built around familiarity and reassurance, and around getting to know each resident as a person first.
We know that choosing a dementia care home is rarely straightforward. Our team is happy to talk it through, honestly and without pressure.
Who Is Dementia Care For?
Dementia care may be suitable for someone who needs more support than they can safely receive at home. At Lola’s House, we support people living with dementia and memory loss, including people with Alzheimer’s disease. Our dementia care can help people who:
- Are living with memory loss or confusion
- Need reassurance, routine and familiar faces
- May feel anxious, unsettled or unsafe at home
- Need support with personal care, meals or medication
- Would benefit from a secure, specialist environment
- Need staff nearby day and night
Choosing dementia care can feel emotional and difficult. Our team is here to listen, answer questions honestly, and help you understand whether Lola’s House is the right place for your loved one.
What’s Included in Dementia Care?
Dementia care at Lola’s House combines practical daily support with an environment built specifically around memory and reassurance.
Personal Care
Sensitive, unhurried support with washing, dressing, mobility and daily routines.
Meals and Drinks
Home-cooked meals in a calm setting, with familiar options and gentle encouragement where needed.
Medication Support
Help with taking medication safely, where this is part of someone’s care plan.
Companionship
One-to-one time with staff who know each resident’s history, not just their diagnosis.
Memory-Focused Design
A dementia-friendly extension and memory-focused design throughout, helping residents navigate the home with confidence.
Private En-Suite Room
A single en-suite bedroom, personalised with familiar belongings to help residents feel settled.
Understanding the Person, Not Just the Diagnosis
Good dementia care starts with the person, not the condition.
At Lola’s House, we learn each resident’s routines, communication style, likes, dislikes, personal history and what helps them feel calm. Families are encouraged to share memories, habits and preferences – a familiar song, a preferred morning routine, a favourite meal or a treasured photo can all help someone feel more at home.
Care plans are built around the individual and reviewed as needs change, always with the aim of supporting dignity, independence and comfort wherever possible.
A Safe and Supportive Setting
Lola’s House is designed to help residents feel safe without the home feeling restrictive. The home includes a purpose-built dementia-friendly extension, memory-focused design, secure fob entry, controlled access between wings and an enclosed courtyard where residents can enjoy fresh air safely.
Staff are available day and night, and because our carers are directly employed, residents are supported by familiar, consistent faces rather than rotating agency staff. For many families, that consistency matters as much as anything else.
Not Sure What Type of Care You Need?
Care needs can change, and families don’t always know whether residential care, dementia care or palliative care is the right fit. You don’t need to decide alone. Our team can talk through your loved one’s needs and help you find the most suitable option.
