Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 24 September 2026

Lola’s House is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including those who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers or speech recognition software.

1. Our commitment

We want everyone who visits this website to be able to find the information they need about care at Lola’s House, whatever their level of vision, hearing, mobility or understanding.

Accessibility was considered throughout the design and build of this site, and we treat it as something we keep working on rather than something that is finished.

2. How accessible this website is

We have taken the following steps:

  • Pages use clear, descriptive headings in a logical order, so the content can be navigated heading by heading with a screen reader.
  • Images that carry meaning have alternative text. Images that are purely decorative are hidden from screen readers, so they are not announced unnecessarily.
  • The website can be used with a keyboard alone. Links and buttons show a visible focus outline, and the photo viewer, menus and photo carousel can all be opened, moved through and closed without a mouse.
  • Text and background colours have been chosen to keep a strong contrast, and text can be enlarged using your browser without content being lost or overlapping.
  • The site works on phones, tablets and computers, and reflows to a single column on small screens without side-to-side scrolling.
  • Movement is kept gentle, and animations switch off automatically if your device is set to reduce motion.
  • Telephone numbers and email addresses are links, so they can be activated directly on a phone or in your email program.

3. How accessible we believe it to be

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA.

This website has not yet been independently audited against that standard, and it has not been tested with assistive technology by disabled people. For that reason we describe it as partially conformant: we believe most of the standard is met, but we cannot yet claim full conformance.

4. Known limitations

We are aware of the following:

  • Our official rating is shown using a widget supplied by the Care Quality Commission and loaded from their website. We do not control how it is built, so we cannot guarantee its accessibility.
  • Some photographs have been supplied at a lower resolution than we would like, and may look soft on large or high-resolution screens.
  • If we add documents such as PDFs in future, they may not be fully accessible. We will provide the same information in another format on request.

5. Getting information in another format

If you need anything from this website in a different format, such as large print, easy read, audio, or simply read out to you over the telephone, please contact us and we will do our best to help.

We will consider your request and come back to you as soon as we can.

6. Reporting an accessibility problem

We are always looking to improve. If you find a problem that is not listed above, or you think we are not meeting accessibility requirements, please tell us using the contact details above so that we can put it right.

Please describe the problem, the page it happened on, and the device or software you were using, if you are able to. That helps us find and fix it more quickly.

7. Technical information

This website depends on HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It is built on WordPress using the GeneratePress theme and the GenerateBlocks page builder.

During development the site was checked using keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom and resizing, and a review of the heading structure, link text, image alternatives and colour contrast on every page.

8. Your rights

Under the Equality Act 2010 we have a duty to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not placed at a substantial disadvantage.

If you are unhappy with how we have responded to an accessibility problem, please tell us and we will do our best to put things right. You can also seek advice from the Equality Advisory and Support Service.
